Dark room in the first floor. continental breakfast only includes coffee, orange juice and candy bar. No car lot next to the hotel was availabe.
Has lots of character. Made access to other areas easy. Good little bistro type restaurants and bars. Most of what was good was outside the hotel.
The quality of fit out was poor. Worn out carpet, hot tap in kitchen permanently disabled. Blinds don't work and curtain rails fall off. Not sure what budget hotel should be worth but this over-priced in my view. I think the website could be more accurate in describing the quality. I was told I was up-graded. However, when I looked into another room on 1st floor, I think I was down-graded.
Guess it was required but a welcome of a security door is not the best for a hotel; however if the area requires it, so be it.
The Victorian style of the building was different from what I have experienced before. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
Although naturally darker because of the Victorian style, it felt as though there was an eerie presence in the room; almost as if there was a ghost or spirit amongst us.
This place is funky. We loved it.
It was a very warm weekend and the air conditioning could not keep up.
Old charmful hotel, a little bit run down but it just added to the atmosphere.
The staff was excellent, very friendly and super hot. The house keeper with a ton of tattoos and the Operation Ivy shirt can turn my bed anytime! Also felt very secure since you had to ring the door bell to be let in the front door. The room was directly across an gigantic church built in 1729 that was simply gorgeous to look at every morning. The central air was a nice touch since it could be pointed to down to only hit the bed. Everything was within walking distance. They have a cat living in the hotel that is so sweet named Simon. Would have kept him in the room if I could have.
Neighborhood wasn't the greatest. It's a real pain to find something to eat late in the evening since everything closes down early. That wasn't the hotel's fault. My room mates complained about the stairs every trip down and up to our room, but I didn't mind them since I have to walk stairs at work every day. They're just lazy.
bad smell and so many mice running around the garden.. I will never stay in this hotel no matter how cheap it is.
Good product for the value . Very spacious rooms and well furnished in charming victorian building . Nice kind staff day and night ; made the difference !.Mrs Rebecca ( house keeper waht a lovely person !! confortable beds and very close access to light rail where you can buy a usd3.60 All day tktto be used within mta buses and light train . 02 blocks off you have the option for the " Circulator " efficient bus system provided by the cityl, offering 03 routes for free !! I never had nowhere in the world ! Close to great cafes and restaurants .
No major complaints but !Suggestions : Old but fairly maintened . I think the hotel deserves better maintenance attention on walls , ceiling and bathrooms as well as old carpets at hallways / stairways .Also the breakfast could be improved a little ..light continental . Ok if you dont mind for only coffee , a bun and a granola bar . On the other hand you have a refrigerator , micro wave and a cofffee machine on your room where a full breakfast can be fixed .. supermarket two blocks down . I would go back without no hesitation !!
The beds were excellent. Coffee in the lobby in the morning was good. The man on the desk helped by carrying our heavy bags up the steps and absolutely refused to accept a tip for that service. He was also helpful in giving directions out of town.
A steep flight of steps leads into the lobby of the hotel. There is no elevator and steep steps to the floor where rooms are were very hard for a couple in our eighties to navigate. The room was clean but the entrance to the hotel was filthy. The outside steps were carpeted and full of dirt. Even the steps inside the first door were dirty. We parked in the bank parking lot as it was Saturday afternoon when we arrived and so the parking was available. Otherwise, only street parking is available and it's hard to find.
The room was lovely and comfy, and had amenities (small kitchenette, cable tv, refrigerator). Old building with some need for cleaning in the halls and carpets on the stairs, but the room itself was clean, comfortable. I would definitely stay there again!
Simon the cat! Owners were very nice, just not the cleanest!
Cleanness ? v
The hotel was pretty unique, in a creepy-divey sort of way. We were awakened by a domestic dispute so loud (!) and with furniture and door slamming involved from 6-7am. Not a place I would consider going back to. Sketchy clientele and a sketchy area.
Nice staff, cozy place, good neighborhood
Interior very old and run down (but clean)
There was nothing positive about this hotel
The hotel was hoorible - in very bad shape, dirty, paint peeling trashin the lobby - no one should ever stay there
